At LoginEKO’s farm in Vojvodina, innovation and collaboration are central to our sustainable farming practices. Last summer, we had the pleasure to host Marieke Smit as part of her Master’s program at Wageningen University & Research (WUR). This year, we welcomed another talented Master’s student from WUR, Marco Bonadies, for a four-month internship focused on advancing our strip cropping techniques.
Wageningen University & Research, a global leader in agricultural science, has been one of our key partners since 2021. In the fall of last year, LoginEKO officially became a member of the Global Network of Lighthouse Farms, an initiative led by WUR to bring together exemplary farms from around the world that have found innovative solutions to sustainability challenges.
Marco’s internship was driven by his desire of gaining practical experience and to contribute to the implementation of innovative agricultural techniques like strip cropping.
Strip cropping, a key focus at LoginEKO for several seasons, has been the focus of Marco’s research during his internship with us. This approach, which involves growing different crops in adjacent strips on the same field, enhances crop diversity, improves resource efficiency, and reduces pressure from pests and diseases. It also diversifies production, helping to mitigate risks in our increasingly unpredictable climate.
During Marco’s internship, we focused on the expansion of LoginEKO’s strip cropping into a gluten-free six-year crop rotation – a significant challenge that motivates us to improve and develop crop rotation methods in our company.

Our collaboration with students like Marco exemplifies the value of international cooperation in advancing sustainable agriculture, and we are proud to be part of his academic journey.
