Organically grown crops sold without certificates
To further minimize any potential risk, we decided to sell part of our organically grown crops without organic certificates, even though our entire 3,700-hectare farm is part of the organic certification process. This includes crops from the fields we declassified and removed from organic status as a precautionary measure, as well as crops from fields where contamination has occurred. Ten percent of the total harvested areas fell into this classification in the 2024 season, which is a significant portion. However, awareness of contamination risk remains our top priority.
Buffer Zones
In addition to our innovative model for assessing risk zones, we implement buffer zones – barriers composed of various plant species between neighboring conventional and our organic fields—as part of our quality risk management strategy.
These protective areas not only significantly reduce contamination from neighboring fields but also enhance biodiversity, and help mitigate erosion.
Gluten-Free Production
2024 marks our first year of gluten-free production, and we’ve successfully harvested organic gluten-free oats, chickpeas, and flax. External lab testing confirmed all samples were below the 5 ppm gluten threshold.
Producing gluten-free crops involves additional risks, as we must prevent contamination with gluten-containing cultures from sowing to sale. Preventive measurements include segregating gluten-free from gluten-containing crops during harvest, transport, and storage; thoroughly cleaning equipment and facilities and regularly analysis testing of crops. Staff training and clear labeling protocols further reduce contamination risks.
